A little context before the listing: Everything I’m selling right now is helping fund two upcoming trips. In September, I’m traveling to Portugal for work and staying an extra four days on my own. Then in December, I’ll be spending about a month in Palestine volunteering with an organization that works to help protect Palestinian families from Israeli settler violence.
That second trip isn’t paid work. I need to cover the cost of getting there, but I also need to prepare for nearly a month of lost wages while I’m gone. So every sale genuinely helps get me there and makes it possible for me to take that time away from paid work.
Blue Patina Flower & Freshwater Pearl Earrings
I hand-painted a blue patina onto these metal flowers, dangled freshwater pearls from the bottom, and then sealed the finished pieces for protection.
The patina is a several-day process. I paint a variety of layers using primers, metal paints, and an accelerator that reacts with the metal paint to create an actual patina. It isn't simply blue paint. The patina develops through the process, so the colors, patterns, and textures are different every single time.
Because of that, no two pieces are exactly alike. Some may develop deeper blues, brighter turquoise tones, darker areas, or more variation across the surface. Each patina is completely unique.
The freshwater pearls add a softer, more organic contrast to the weathered look of the patina.
Finished with silver-plated ear wires and hanging approximately 2" long.
