An original mixed-media canvas from my fundraising collection, The Keys They Carried.
Each piece begins as a blank canvas and is built by hand using layers of texture, paint, metallic finishes, patina, and aging techniques. An antique-style key is incorporated into every canvas, making each piece completely one of a kind. No two backgrounds, finishes, or keys will ever be exactly the same.
The collection is inspired by the keys carried by Palestinians displaced from their homes during the Nakba in 1948. Many families kept those keys, passing them from one generation to the next. They became more than objects. They became symbols of home, memory, displacement, and the right of return.
These canvases are also helping me get to Palestine. Proceeds from this collection will go toward funding my travel to the West Bank, where I will spend three weeks volunteering, witnessing, documenting, and sharing what I see.
You aren’t purchasing a reproduction. You are purchasing an original piece of art, handmade by me, from a collection with a purpose.
Each one is different. Each one carries a key. Each one helps carry me closer to Palestine.
